Many Years Ago...

...Two sisters made two quilts.  For their hope chests.  They used the same starting pattern, but very different fabric combinations and variations on the pattern produced two very different quilts.

Those two sisters are each happily married with babies now, and are enjoying those quilts for playtimes and naps!

Melody added rounded out corners on each side of each block, making all the quarter rounds white.  She also hand quilted her whole lovely soft-colored creation!

Angela went with classic primaries in mostly reproduction vintage prints, and a random layout of blocks.  She also got a little lazy and only quilted the border (actually, she thinks Melody even did that part :-) and tied the rest!

It really is fun to use these quilts that we made so long ago, now with our precious little ones!

Hi Angela, It is so fun to see these quilts you and Melody made-I remember your mom telling me about them. You both have a good eye for design(no surprise there). Kim quilts occasionally but is a avid knitter and Carrie only quilts once in a blue moon. I love that your little ones now play on yours. I'm still quilting; been at it for over 15 yrs but still don't seem to be as prolific as I'd like. Oh well, lots of precious memories.
Hugs, Noreen

I love the Story of the Quilts - and both of them are so appealing! Lucky babies.
